Professor Gerard Hodgkinson
Gerard P. Hodgkinson is Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Strategic Management at Leeds University Business School and Director of the Centre for Organizational Strategy, Learning and Change (COSLAC). His principal research interests currently centre on: (1) the psychology of strategic management (especially the analysis of cognitive processes in strategic decision making and the social construction of industry and market boundaries and the development and validation of methodological techniques for eliciting and representing strategic knowledge and intervening in processes of strategizing); (2) the role of personality and individual differences in the performance and well being of individuals and teams; and (3) applied psychometrics.
The author or co-author of three books and over 60 scholarly articles and book chapters, his research has appeared in a number of the world's leading scholarly applied psychology and management journals and other major outlets. In recognition of the contribution of research to the development of the psychology of strategic management as an emerging field of study, he has been awarded fellowships of both the British Academy of Management and the British Psychological Society. In 2008 he was elected an Academician of the Academy of Social Sciences.
He was the Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Management (1999-2006), and is currently Consulting Editor of the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and serves on the Editorial Boards of the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Organizational Behavior and Organization Science. He also co-edits (with J. Kevin Ford) the International Review of Industrial and Organizational Psychology and served as a member of the Research Grants Board of the ESRC (2002 - 2006). In 2007 he was elected to a five year term of office within the Executive Committee of the Academy of Management’s Managerial and Organizational Cognition Division (MOC), serving in a succession of roles including Program Chair - overseeing the full scientific program of activity for the MOC Division (2009) – and Division Chair (2010-2011). A Chartered Occupational Psychologist, he has conducted numerous consultancy assignments across a wide range of organizations.”
