Dr Kamal Birdi
Kamal is a Lecturer in Occupational Psychology at the Institute of Work Psychology, University of Sheffield. His main areas of research interest are learning, creativity and innovation at work. He gained his PhD on researching training effectiveness with BMW / Rover Group and has since collaborated with a wide range of public sector and private sector organisations. He has worked extensively on issues of evaluating the effectiveness of employee learning interventions and has undertaken a series of studies to identify the individual, training and environmental factors influencing training sessions. More recently, he has been conducting studies examining the relationship between organisational learning practices and organisational performance.
In the domain of creativity, he has been investigating different methods of developing employee innovation and assessing the facilitators, inhibitors and consequences of organisational innovations.
He has published in both national and international journals, and regularly presented his research to audiences in a variety of countries including the U.S., Greece, Italy, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil and Portugal. He is a fully Chartered Occupational Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and is Director of one of the UK's leading MScs in Occupational Psychology.
