Professor Sue Cox

Professor Sue Cox is Dean of the Management School at Lancaster University, where she holds a Chair in Safety and Risk Management.

After graduating in chemistry and psychology, she worked in the chemical/pharmaceutical industry as a product development manager before joining academia. She has held senior academic posts at both Nottingham and Loughborough Universities.

Sue was a member of a team of applied psychologists working on stress management at Nottingham University where she facilitated organisational development projects. In her previous role as Director of Loughborough Business School, she developed strong links with engineering managers and supported innovative initiatives concerned with the management of change, e.g. Ford Retail Management College.

She is the Chair of the Association of Business Schools, a member of the ESRC Research Priorities Board, a member of BAM Council and a member of the industry and governmental policy commitees in relation to the nuclear industry.

She has acted as a consultant in organisational culture change in relation to safety in a number of companies including Air Products, Chevron, Schumburger, 3M, Ocean Group, Severn Trust, and Magnox/BNFL. Sue has completed projects in China, Kuwait, India, Japan and the USA to support international developments in chemical safety and has published widely in her chosen field.
