Priority Issues - Innovation and Metrics
This project explores metrics for improvement in local government provision of public services and evidence of the role of innovation in improving performance.
Research Activities
- Literature review innovation and performance with lessons for public organizations, published as an AIM working paper.
- Analysis of existing local government datasets has resulted in work on:
- The performance impact of innovation.
- The performance of the Labour government's public service improvement strategy.
- Corporate social responsibilty in local government, with reference to diversity and environmental management.
- Research on new institutional economics in Chinese urban housing markets.
- Visits to the USA to consult international experts at the University of Georgia, Rutgers University, Korea University, Monash University.
- Working with international fellows: Professor Keith Meier, Texas A&M University, Professor Laurence O'Toole, and University of Georgia.
- Organisation of a seminar on the Determinants of Performance in Public Organisations. Check out their website
