Monash University
paul.collier@buseco.monash.edu

Paul Collier is Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Finance, and Associate Dean (Research Degrees) in the faculty of Business and Economics at Monash University. Prior to this he was at Aston Business School in Birmingham, where he had been since 1999. Paul had previously held positions as Head of Training & Development for West Mercia Constabulary, following a number of senior financial and general management positions in manufacturing and service industries in Australia and the UK.

Paul has published extensively in relation to financial and performance management and also in areas of risk and knowledge management. Although he has wider interests, the setting for much of his research has been police forces. Paul’s main research interest is in the connection between financial, knowledge and performance management processes and its impact on managerial behavior. The results of Paul's AIM Research Fellowship in four different police forces highlighted how different forms of management control interacted with each other.

Paul is currently working on research projects with Victoria Police and West Australia Police. In the first project, he is studying resource allocation decisions for major crime and in the second he is collaborating with researchers at Curtin University to develop measures and processes to improve the quality of police investigations.
