Dr Zella King

Image of Zella King Zella King MA PhD is an AIM Innovation Fellow and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Reading Business School. She teaches Strategic Human Resource Management and supervises a research group comprising five PhD students with interests in: social networks and firm performance; human capital and higher education; and career decision-making and employability in higher education.

Zella has a BA in Social Science and Political Sciences from Cambridge University and a PhD in Occupational Psychology from Birkbeck College, London. Before joining the academic world, she worked for five years as a Consultant for Accenture, and as a Corporate Finance Executive for the investment bank Schroders. After completing her PhD, she was funded by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) as a Research Fellow at King's College, London, where she examined senior executives' perceptions of human resource management. She retains close links with the CIPD, recently investigating City analysts' perceptions of human capital data on their behalf. She has published academic papers in Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and the Human Resource Management Journal and is on the editorial board of Human Relations.
