Management Practices Fellow Dr Markus Perkmann co-organized a workshop together with Riccardo Fini (University of Bolzano), Maureen McKelvey (RIDE-IMIT, Univ. of Gothenburg), Markus Perkmann (Imperial College London) and Maurizio Sobrero (University of Bologna). The workshop was entitled 'Universities on a third mission: External engagement and entrepreneurship by academic researchers' at  Alma Graduate School, University of Bologna, on 11-12 February 2010.

The objective of the workshop was to assess the state of research on industry engagement and knowledge transfer activities by academic researchers. Researchers from various European countries presented their latest research on an important issue that continues to occupy policy-makers and university administrators.
