AIM Fellows Video on Practices

The business sections of bookshops all over the world are flooded with books on management practices. New concepts are forever being put forward as ‘best’ – merely by doing steps 1, 2 and 3 you too can maximise your productivity, minimise waste and create an innovative corporate culture. But if any company can implement the Six Sigma or Lean Management principles, why isn’t every company an IBM or Toyota? Clearly, there is much more to successful management practices than copying the example straight out of the text book. So how can companies turn good intentions into effective practices? What, at board and ground level, can managers actually do?

It is core and key to AIM’s research to seek answers to these and many more questions about the successful management of organisations. What is evident is that ultimately, bad or badly-implemented practices are one of the biggest problems facing British companies today.

‘AIM Fellows on Practices’ serves as an introduction to the challenges that AIM sets out to tackle in their extensive research. It is a great starting point for managers who want to understand why practices fail, and what action they can take to ensure they succeed. all of the questions raised in the video, and many more besides, are explored in much greater detail on the research pages of the AIM Research website, as well as in our numerous free publications.
